Many of us enjoy something having something sweet to sip, but sugary drinks are one of the largest sources of calories in our diet. Instead, you can feel good about having any of these homemade drink ideas. They’re tasty, healthy and easy to make.
4 Healthy Homemade Drink Ideas to Have Instead of Soda
1. Drink sparkling water
Keep hydrated with bubbly water. A squirt of lemon or real orange will give the water a little extra flavor without any added sugar.
2. Make cinnamon ginger water
Add some sliced ginger root and a cinnamon stick to a jug of water to infuse overnight. Ginger helps reduce inflammation and promote healthy digestion.
3. Try herbal tea
Natural teas can help keep you hydrated. Drink it warm, or ice it for a cooling summer drink. Skip the sugar and sweeten your tea with a few drops of stevia, and a squirt of fresh lemon juice.
4. Infuse your water with fruits or veggies
Add some frozen or fresh fruit to a jug of water and let it sit a few hours for the flavors to infuse. I love added fresh kiwi, frozen berries or cucumber slices to my water.
Stay Hydrated on the go
If you like your drinks cold, all the above can be put in the fridge. If you need a cold drink on-the-go, pour your favorite into a reusable bottle leaving some room at the top for expansion and set it in the freezer over night. And leave the lid a touch lose as well. It’ll last you all day.
It takes a little effort but then you know for sure what you are getting. And you can say no to another item of “food” that comes from a factory.
