This superfood smoothie recipe is on my list of favorites. It has the 3 key items I always look for in new recipes. Healthy, fast to make and low cost.
It’s healthy. This smoothie is packed full of goodness. And it’s yummy, so a win-win for cells and taste buds.
It’s easy to make. A friend of mine who lives in a very busy house with young children that need to get fed, dressed and ready for school with snacks and lunches still manages to throw this in a blender each morning to start the day off right.
It’s cost effective. Some of these items can be bought in bulk. While there might be a bit of an outlay in the beginning, the quantities used are small and your supplies last quite a while. It’s always nice to save in the long run.
Ingredients
- 10-12 oz Cashew or almond milk
- 1 tbsp Chia
- 1 tbsp Coconut oil
- Cinnamon, to taste
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
- Banana
- Half an avocado
- 1 tsp Spirulina
- 1 tbsp Omega oils (optional)
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in your blender together and blend on high for 30-60 seconds. Pour in a glass and enjoy.
Chew on this
- By adding the banana, it takes away the bitterness while not making the smoothie too sweet.
- Mix in a level teaspoon of Matcha tea if you’re trying to cut your coffee consumption and are looking to add a little pick me up to your morning.
- No smoothie recipe has to be followed perfectly. Have fun and experiment with other ingredients.
